26/10/2018

It was a sweet fairy-tale affair during Taarana’s annual school concert which was held in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Students of Taarana, the QI Group’s very own educational centre for children with special learning needs, put on a spectacular performance and captured the hearts of the audience.

Themed “Fairy Tale”, 33 students aged between 6 to 16 years old from Early Intervention Programme, Early Transition Programme, Basic Academic Programme, Lower Academic Programme, Upper Academic Programme and Pre-Vocational Programme took part in the concert which was held for the 7th year running.

The performance which took 1 month to prepare was beautifully executed with the help of dedicated teaching staff at Taarana. During the 2-hour performance, the students wowed the crowd by showcasing their talent and confidence through some yoga disciplines, dance performances and a fashion show.

“These Children have the strength to overcome challenges and embrace new experiences to create something beautiful whether in music or other domains. I have always believed that music is not only an art form for entertainment. It can inspire, it can educate, and it can engage people. If you have the heart to care and share, everyone can perform together,” said Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran, Chairperson of Vijayaratnam Foundation.

The Group’s Executive Chairman, Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran who was also present at the concert, paid tribute to the unstinting efforts and dedication of all those who had supported Taarana’s endeavours, especially the teachers for their persistence and perseverance. “To me, the crown jewel of QI Group will always remain Taarana,” he said.

The finale of the concert was the awards presentation to all participating students to honour and celebrate their achievements.

The awards were presented by Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran, QI Group Deputy Chairman Mr Joseph Bismark, QI Group Director of International and Public Affairs Mr Vijay Poonoosamy and QI Group Director of HR and Administration Ms. Boey Kho.
