A Fusion of Movement and Music: Hari Raya Celebrations at Taarana
PETALING JAYA – 2 April 2026, The halls of Taarana were filled with rhythm, laughter, and vibrant colours as students and staff gathered to celebrate Hari Raya Celebration. The day was a beautiful blend of cultural tradition and physical activity, designed to engage the children’s senses and spirits.
Energizing the Body and Spirit
The morning kicked off with a spirited dance warm-up. Students arrived dressed in their most colourful traditional outfits, ready to energize their bodies before the day’s festivities began.
The celebration officially opened with a Salam session. This was a meaningful moment where students practised the tradition of seeking forgiveness and showing respect to their teachers. Each child received a Raya packet, marking a joyous start to the event followed by photo session to capture the beautiful outfits.
Building Skills Through Traditional Play
Taarana integrated developmental milestones into the festive fun through a series of activity stations.
The Bean Bag Challenge:
Children competed in groups, jumping through hula hoops and tossing mini bean bags into bowls. This activity was specifically designed to sharpen their tactical skills and hand-eye coordination. Successful participants were rewarded with bubbles, adding an extra layer of delight.
The Rice and Lemang Balance:
In a nod to traditional Raya food, students participated in a balancing act. They walked across a designated lane while holding spoons filled with colourful rice, which they then used to “fill” a lemang bamboo. This task focused on physical balance and concentration while introducing them to the concept of traditional food preparation.
Ketupat Hunt:
A crowd favourite was the “Passing the Ball” game. When the music stopped, the student holding the ball had to follow teacher’s instructions to find hidden ketupat decorations tucked away in the assembly hall. This game was an excellent exercise in following multi-step directions.
A Grand Finale of Dance
To conclude the celebration, the entire centre was transformed into a dance floor. Music played through the halls as students came together for a final dance, celebrating the unity and joy of Hari Raya.
Wishing you a month filled with peace and joy. Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri from all of us at Taarana!
