Communication Programme Models

The Hanen Programme

The approach advocates that the natural environment is the best way for children to learn, providing them with opportunities to communicate with key people in their lives.

Applied Verbal Behaviour (AVB)

This therapy focuses specifically on how language develops and the conditions in which certain verbal behaviours occur. AVB teaches different forms and meanings of words so that an individual can have functional language.

Relationship Development Intervention (RDI)

RDI is a family-based behavioural treatment that addresses the core symptoms of Autism. It focuses on building social and emotional skills. Parents train as the primary therapists in most RDI programmes.

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)

ABA is a therapeutic approach to dealing with behavioural disorders based on the science of learning and behaviour. ABA typically focuses on developing minds and is most often used on children or young adults.
