Taarana School recently hosted a vibrant Hari Raya celebration filled with colours and traditions. The event brought together students, parents, and staff for a day of joy and entertainment.

The festivities commenced with enchanting Hari Raya songs, setting the perfect mood with rhythmic beats and familiar melodies.

The dedicated teachers at Taarana meticulously planned the day’s programme, emphasising our commitment to embracing diversity and fostering unity within our school community. The students’ interactions during the event significantly contributed to their social and cognitive development.

“Events like this Hari Raya celebration provide valuable opportunities for non-academic interactions between teachers and students,” Dr Sunitha Sivakumaran, the Principal of Taarana, said. “Moreover, these exchanges expose our students, who possess various learning abilities, to different modes of communication.”

The students also showcased their artistic talents by creating beautiful Hari Raya-inspired designs with their parents and teachers. This activity allowed them to express themselves while enhancing their fine motor skills.

Laughter filled the school as energy levels soared during the thrilling interactive games. From the exhilarating musical chairs to engaging activities like ‘Poison Box’ and ‘Fill in the Lemang,’ each game encouraged students to bond and forge stronger friendships.

Later, the children and guests indulged in delicious traditional Malay sweets and snacks Malaysians love.

The meaningful experiences shared during this heartwarming celebration served as a reminder of the power of cultural appreciation and the importance of celebrating festivals together.
