Sensory Day Sparks Joy and Learning at Taarana School
PETALING JAYA – Laughter, splashes, and exciting discoveries filled the air at Taarana School on July 18, 2025, as students enthusiastically participated in a memorable Sensory Day! The day was packed with fun water activities that engaged the children’s senses, culminating with exciting rides down a bounce castle water slide.
According to Dr. Sunitha, Principal of Taarana School, “Each activity is carefully crafted to provide students with opportunities to explore and strengthen their senses through engaging, hands-on experiences.”
The day featured several exciting activities:
1. Ice Smashing Challenge
Students took turns smashing ice to uncover hidden animal figurines. This activity introduced children to cold and wet sensations, helping them build tolerance and confidence in handling new sensory inputs.

2. Water Transfer Challenge
Students balanced buckets of water on their heads and transferred water to their friends’ buckets along a line. This activity improved gross motor skills, balance, posture, and body awareness which is essential skills for everyday tasks.

3. Sensory Treasure Hunt
Students searched for hidden objects based on clues within a word search. This activity enhanced sensory processing, problem-solving, fine motor skills, and literacy, all while keeping children motivated with clear goals and rewarding surprises.

4. Water Slide Bouncy House
The highlight of the day was the thrilling water slide, which provided intense vestibular input through sliding motion and proprioceptive feedback from climbing and bouncing. This activity helped students develop spatial awareness, balance, and coordination while experiencing the rush of movement through space. The students couldn’t contain their excitement as they took turns racing down the slippery slide, squealing with delight as they splashed into the pool below. Our students spent time playfully splashing water on each other, completely soaking themselves as they laughed and played together, creating a joyful atmosphere of shared sensory exploration and social connection.
“Seeing our students laugh, explore, and challenge themselves in such a supportive environment truly embodies what experiential learning is all about,” shared Dr. Sunitha. The sensory activities not only provided entertainment but also supported the children’s development in a joyful and engaging environment.
